About

I'm Sophia!

I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. As a child I was super active. I loved playing outside, shooting hoops with my dad, playing sports (especially basketball), anything that required movement, I did it (except riding bikes, judge me). However, once I entered high school, I stopped playing sports and a more sedentary lifestyle took over.

Entering college, I decided to go back to my roots, if you will. I majored in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training, and it was the best thing I could have done. Being in the athletic environment that urged health and safety, I quickly became a much more motivated version of myself.

During my first semester of college, I was definitely at my unhealthiest state. I ate like a typical college kid living off of meal plan, only visited the gym at the beginning of the semester thinking "I am going to make this happen!" Unfortunately, it didn't work as planned. Going into the summer of my first year of college I was weighing in at almost 140 pounds and about 27% body fat. I know to some this isn't bad, but knowing my body, this wasn't good. That summer, with the help from my sister Emily, I committed to making a change. It didn't happen overnight, but I worked at it for a long time.

13.1: only half crazy
I graduated from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas in December of 2014. I graduated having done a half marathon, and Sean T's Insanity videos, not once...but twice. Not only that, during my last  semester I was an avid gym goer, and practiced yoga regularly. Since being done, I am doing weight training and yoga in my free time. I am currently studying to become a Certified Personal Trainer as well as Licensed Athletic Trainer for the State of Texas.

I like to joke that some of my best enjoyments in life begin with f: family, friends, faith, fitness, and food. I hope to explore all of these aspects in my life through this blog, as well as motivating myself and others! Thanks for tagging along in my journey and continuing transformation!
